Westchester Woman, 85, Charged With Leaving Fatal Accident
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) -- An 85-year-old Westchester County woman has been indicted on a charge of leaving the scene of a fatal accident.
The district attorney says Bridget Gambone, of Bronxville, was arraigned Friday.
A 59-year-old Yonkers teacher, Sheryl Chasin, was killed as she crossed a Bronxville street on her way to a Christmas party.
If convicted, the defendant could face a prison sentence of up to seven years.
She was released on her own recognizance and is due back in court on May 10.
Defense attorney Devereaux Cannick says it was "just a tragic accident" and said that his client had a medical condition.
