Westchester, Rockland Drivers Struggle With Slick Roads
MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Monday's snow and slush wreaked havoc on the roads in Westchester and Rockland counties.
CBS 2's Lou Young spoke to two motorists who had rough days in Westchester -- one who got into a minor wreck, another who spun off the highway.
"I see this truck spinning ... going around in the middle of the road," the first driver said. "And I tried to avoid him. I avoided him, but somehow he clipped me on the back."
Drivers In Westchester, Rockland Have Trouble With Traction
Said the second driver, who lost control of his car on I-684 in Mount Kisco: "I just slid off the road. I hit a patch of slush and just slid off the road."
In Mount Vernon, Young reported seeing a cement mixer with a snow plow attached to it -- and it was even have trouble gaining traction.

In Rockland County, the rapid snowfall made it difficult for plows to keep up.
The roads "are pretty bad right now," Tom, who was driving on the New York side of the Palisades Interstate Parkway, told 1010 WINS' Roger Stern. "It's still coming down pretty heavy. You've just got to take it easy. A lot of people, they try and go too fast."
But another motorist from Syracuse didn't seem that concerned.
"It's a little bit slushy, but it's not icy, so I haven't been having any trouble," he said.
A Nanuet man who was shoveling his driveway told Stern the snow was heavier than usual.
"I got home at 3 o'clock last night from the Super Bowl, and it wasn't snowing yet," he said. "When I woke up this morning, there was a good amount out there already. So it's coming down hard. It's wet. It's a bit heavy to move, for sure."
