Westchester Rabbi Arrested For Second Alleged Police Impersonation Incident
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) - A suburban New York rabbi has been arrested for the second time on a charge of impersonating a police officer.
Rabbi Alfredo Borodowski was accused last month of flashing a fake badge at a fellow motorist in Mamaroneck. He allegedly pulled alongside a woman driver and shouted "Police! Pull over!"
On Wednesday, police in White Plains accused him of doing the same thing there in May.
Lt. Eric Fisher said the rabbi surrendered at police headquarters Wednesday. No arraignment was immediately scheduled.
In both cases, other drivers alleged that Borodowski seemed to be in a rage because he was behind them and wanted them to speed up.
He told Mamaroneck police he hates it when people drive too slowly.
His lawyer said Borodowski was suffering from bipolar disorder.
State police are investigating a third incident, in Yonkers.
Borodowski was terminated from his position as executive director of the Skirball Center for Jewish Learning at Temple Emanu-El on East 65th Street earlier this month, but he is still listed as the rabbi at Sulam Yaakov in Larchmont.
