Police said that in the Elmsford robbery, the suspect initially entered the store to pay for gas and a pack of gum unmasked. He returned a short time later wearing a different sweatshirt and a ski mask, authorities said.
The suspect is said have fled both robberies in a red Jeep Liberty with gold New York license plates and a spare tire mounted on the rear of the vehicle.
"The Village of Elmsford reported a robbery of a convenient store and a gas station in their jurisdiction -- very similar description of the suspect and vehicle. They got a better look at the vehicle," Mount Pleasant Chief of Police Louis Alagno said.
Westchester County police have released video footage and photographs of the suspect.
