Westchester Man Donates 70th Pint Of Blood
NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – For the past 36 years, every eight to 10 weeks, 79-year-old Joe Mannana has donated blood and he's hit yet another milestone.
This past week, Mannana donated his 70th pint of blood.
"That's my Sicilian blood," he said. "I said, 'You give 'em this Sicilian blood. It's guaranteed to wake them up.'"

The New Rochelle native said he's been donating since 1974 when a co-worker's relative got sick. As soon as he donated, he said he was struck at how good it made him feel to help.
"It makes me feel good. I really mean that. That's coming from my heart," he said.
Since then, he's been a regular for American Red Cross.
"I just kept doing it. I said I'm not a very talented man. I can't act, I can't sing and I can't dance, but I can sure as hell give blood," he said.
And now, he's got a new goal: 10 gallons.
"I still would like to give blood right up until I can. And I'm sure for the 10 gallons," he said.
