Westchester County Legislator Says Not So Fast On Playland Deal
RYE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - There is a tentative deal in place to keep Rye Playland going for the next ten years, but not everyone is on board.
Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino has wanted to revamp Playland to, as he puts it, "stop the financial bleeding" and he thinks this deal will do it.
The non-profit group Sustainable Playland will pay the county $4 million up front and then a yearly fee of up to $1.2 million to run the park for ten years.

Still, some Democratic Legislators are objecting.
Democratic leader Peter Harckham told WCBS 880 reporter John Metaxas that Astorino is moving too fast.
"There are three other companies with cash on hand who have very competitive financial proposals that would be more beneficial to the taxpayers of Westchester," he said.
A political fight, however, could put the deal in jeopardy as the non-profit can pull out if there is no approval by the end of the year.
