West New York Elementary School Named For Sen. Robert Menendez
WEST NEW YORK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) - New Jersey's senior U.S. senator was on hand as his name was immortalized on a school in his home county.
The new P.S. 3 in West New York bears the name Robert Menendez Elementary School.
Menendez, the son of Cuban immigrants, grew up in nearby Union City.

Naming the school in his honor was the idea of West New York Mayor Felix Roque and was approved by the local school board.
"He never ever forgot his Hudson County roots," said district superintendent John Fauta.
Sen. Menendez spoke to sixth graders at the school during the renaming ceremony.
"Continue to follow your dreams because there isn't anything that will stop you if you work hard and make it happen, and it starts here," he told the students.
