"It's a great thing, because we are all trying to eat healthier and we want to promote a healthy community," says Mayor Clinton Young. "We are trying to promote a healthier Mount Vernon through better eating as well as exercising more."
Young was hooked and says there's nothing like fresh, healthy, wholesome fruit and vegetables.
"I should be eating a lot more fruit and I tell you, the peaches and the plums are just absolutely delicious," he tells WCBS 880 reporter Catherine Cioffi. "It really just tastes great and that's really been the talk of Mount Vernon now too."
The farmers' market will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at City Hall Plaza.
