Weekend Movie Preview - Dec. 17, 2010
NEW YORK (CBS 2 / AP) - An especially robust weekend is shaping up at the nation's theaters.
Fans will be bonding with "TRON: Legacy" - the sequel to the 1982 Disney film. Both star Jeff Bridges. This one, however, takes the audience into the future and on to the grid in IMAX 3D!
Families will flock to "Yogi Bear" - an animated film version of the classic children's cartoon. It stars the voices of Dan Aykroyd, Justin Timberlake, Anna Faris, and Tom Cavanagh.
Boxing buffs are betting on "The Fighter" starring Mark Wahlberg, Christian Bale, Amy Adams, and Melissa Leo.
The date crowd asks "How Do You Know.'' The romantic comedy stars Reese Witherspoon, Paul Rudd, Owen Wilson, and Jack Nicholson.
In select theatres is "Rabbit Hole." Based on the Pultzer Prize-winning play, the drama stars Nicole Kidman and Aaron Eckhart as a couple figuring out how to go on -- after the death of their son.
Also expanding in theaters is William Shakespeare's "The Tempest" directed by Julie Taymor.
"TRON: Legacy" has the most going for it, including a great release date, cult appeal, and of course the IMAX and 3D components. So a No. 1 debut approaching an impressive $60 million is virtually assured for this long-awaited follow up to the 1982 original.
