Weekend Movie Preview
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Last week, "Takers" earned first place in the weekly box office showdown but this week an American and a renegade Mexican will give the movie about a group of bank robbers a run for their money.
On a traditionally slow Labor Day weekend, Hollywood is targeting three distinct audiences at the theaters.
In the thriller "The American," Oscar winner George Clooney plays a skilled assassin who has had enough.
Drew Barrymore and Justin Long -- whose on-again/off-again romance has been a tabloid staple -- star as a couple who decide to tackle the obstacles of a long-distance relationship in the romantic comedy "Going the Distance."
Lastly, Danny Trejo stars in Robert Rodriguez' "Machete," which if you recall, was one of the trailers showcased in the Rodriguez/Tarantino collaboration "Grindhouse" in 2007. Trejo plays a former Mexican Federale turned illegal immigrant who is good with a kniew. The action flick also features Jessica Alba -- who still hasn't erased the no-nudity clause from her contract, even though it seems that way in a shower scene in the film. Also in the film are Lindsay Lohan, Don Johnson, Robert De Niro, Michelle Rodriguez, Cheech Marin and Steven Seagal.
