Calling All Brides! Get Out Your Wedding Dress For Coney Island Scavenger Hunt
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Here come the brides!
Randi Seltzer, founder of the group Trashed In The Dress, believes wedding dresses are meant to be worn.
She held onto her dress for that very purpose.
"I wasn't going to trash it, and I wasn't going to save it, so the only thing left to do was wear it," she told 1010 WINS. "At this point, I've worn it more than most of the other dresses in my closet."
She started the group to give other brides a chance to wear their dresses even after saying their "I dos."
The group is teaming up again with POGO Events to host a scavenger hunt this weekend in Brooklyn where participants are invited to wear their wedding dresses.
"We did one in the snow on the subway and it was actually amazing which is why I'm doing another scavenger hunt with them," Seltzer said.
Other rarely-worn dresses are also welcome.
"While I started the project as something for women to do with their wedding dresses, I invite women to join in their bridesmaids dresses, an expensive dress they may have bought for a formal event that they have only worn that one time," Seltzer said. "One of my former students joined us in her prom dress."
The event is being held at 1 p.m. Sunday on Coney Island.
