3/19 CBS2 Saturday Afternoon Weather Headlines

Good afternoon, folks! We've had some pretty big changes from this time yesterday in regard to our snow chances for the first day of spring. Late March storms are always more tricky than those during the heart of winter, and this one has been no different.
Clouds will be on the increase today with temps only reaching the mid to upper 40s -- 46 in NYC. Later this evening, some rain/snow showers will begin to work into the far southern parts of the viewing area, mainly Ocean County. This first batch of precipitation just doesn't look like it spreads much farther north than that. So besides some flakes south, just cloudy skies overnight.
The latest trends have pushed our storm further east, which keeps the bulk of the precipitation offshore. It's looking more like a "brush" of wet snow Sunday evening and overnight into Monday, mainly S&E of the city. There's still some wiggle room in this track, but that's the consensus right now. If this holds, we're not expecting much more than a trace to an inch in the city, with the highest amounts on far eastern Long Island. Any accumulations would be on grassy surfaces as roadways stay mainly wet. A further eastward trend would mean even these numbers are on the generous side!
It looks to clear out quickly Monday morning with sunshine returning. Basically, it just doesn't look like our storm anymore and won't be anything more than a slight nuisance at this point. It's been a tricky forecast, so be sure to stay tuned for updates!
