NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - You can drive in style and still be good to the planet, WCBS 880's Wayne Cabot reported.

"We don't have to give up the things that made us fall in with cars in the first place in order to be environmentally responsible," Russell Datz of Fisker Automotive told Cabot.
Fisker is a brand new American car company that's all about luxury.
"The car comes from the hand of the guy who designed the BMW Z8," said Datz.
But the company is also about environmental consciousness, reported Cabot.
"We have customers now that have thousands of miles on their car and they've put maybe ten gallons of gas in the car," said Datz.
But the Fisker Karma electric car, which was on display at this year's New York International Auto Show, goes well beyond good gas mileage. It has solar panels that Datz said extend the range of the car for no cost and at zero emissions.
When Justin Bieber bought one, traffic on the Fisker website went up tenfold.
"It was just unreal," said Datz.
Of course, you'll need Bieber's money to get one. The MSRP is $100,000, and the gas savings take a long time to recoup the extra cost of the car.
Consumer Reports said that the Chevrolet Volt would take six years to justify its premium over the cost of the Chevrolet Cruze.
The Sierra Club's Jeff Titel supports vehicles like the Karma.
"We're never gonna drill our way out, but we can conserve our way out," he told Cabot.
