Major Water Main Break Floods Streets In Newark
NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Crews are on the scene following a major water main break early Monday morning in Newark.
It happened around 4:30 a.m. near North 5th Street and Park Avenue.
Video from the scene showed at least several vehicles under water. Authorities say police and firefighters have responded to the area.
North 5th Street from 4th Avenue to 6th Avenue and Park Avenue from 1st Street to 6th are closed due to flooding. Drivers and others are urged to avoid the area.
As a result of the break, Newark Light Rail Service is suspended both ways between Orange Street and Bloomfield Avenue.
