Heavy Rain, Strong Winds Expected To Menace Area Into Thursday Morning
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The overnight hours into Thursday were very wet and very windy as heavy rain and wind lashed the tri-state, prompting widespread watches and warnings.

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood watch for northeast New Jersey, New York City and Westchester, Orange and Rockland counties starting Wednesday evening and continuing through the night.
There were also flood watches in effect for parts of Connecticut.
AccuWeather meteorologist Dave Bowers said the wind will be strong overnight, adding that damaging wind gusts are a possibility early Thursday morning.
The rain will linger into the morning rush and while most of it is expected to be out of the area by 9 a.m., ponding could present a problem.
The strongest part of the storm was in the area around 1 a.m. Thursday, with the precipitation moving out in the early morning hours.
The storm will clear the way for a brisk and colder night on Thursday, with a low temperature of 28 degrees.
Friday will be blustery and even colder with a few flurries and a high of only 34.
