WATCH: Will Ferrell Crashes Fan Party In Brazil, Vows To Bite Opposing Players
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Jozy Altidore will miss Thursday's crucial World Cup game against Germany with a strained left hamstring.
Not to worry.
The United States has brought in a replacement player, and you might have heard of him.
At U.S. World Cup fan headquarters in Recife, Brazil, U.S. Soccer Federation President Sunil Gulati welcomed none other than Will Ferrell to the stage.
Seriously.
Dressed in a U.S. jersey, the actor and comedian got the crowd fired up as only he can.
"I'm so honored to be playing tomorrow," the "Anchorman" star told the roaring audience. "I'm not going to lie to you. I'm not in the best shape. I'm not in soccer shape. But I'm going to try my best and live up to the spirit of this American team."
He then made a crack in reference to Luis Suárez, who was banned four months by FIFA for biting.
"If the game gets close, I will bite," Ferrell said. "I will bite the opponent! I will bite every tournament player if I have to."
Words simply don't do this justice. You just have to watch.
