WATCH: Video Released By MTA Shows Flooding Of Queens Midtown Tunnel
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - The Metropolitan Transportation Authority has released video showing flood waters from superstorm Sandy rushing into the Queens Midtown Tunnel.
In the video taken on the night of Oct. 29, the water can be seen rushing through the toll plaza and into the tunnel.
That was the day Sandy may landfall, which triggered a massive storm surge.

Millions of gallons of water rushed into the tunnel, filling the tube nearly to the top of the 12-foot high ceiling at the worst of the flooding, according to officials.
The storm surge triggered 90 straight minutes of flooding from the Queens side, officials said.
The Queens Midtown Tunnel was closed for nearly two weeks following the storm and reopened on Nov. 9.
It sustained some damage, including to the lighting system.
