WATCH: Pro Golfer Jumps In Lake To Escape Hornet Attack, Birdies Hole

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (CBSNewYork/AP) — Spain's Pablo Larrazabal has been forced to dive into a water hazard to avoid attacking hornets during his second round in the Malaysian Open on Friday.

Larrazabal jumped fully clothed into the water adjacent to the 14th green but not before suffering a number of hornet stings which required treatment.

"They were three times the size of bees," said Larrazabal, who estimated he was under attack by 30 to 40 hornets.

However he then resumed playing and was able to birdie the hole on his way to a round of 2-under 70 at Kuala Lumpur Country Club.

"I didn't know what to do. My caddie told me to run, so I start running like a crazy guy, but the hornets were still there, so the other players told me to jump in the lake," Larrazabal said. "I ran to the lake, threw my scorecard down, took off my shoes and jumped in the water. It was the scariest moment of my career, for sure. I've never been so scared."
