Wake Held For Family Killed In S.I. Murder-Suicide
NEW YORK (AP/1010 WINS) -- Mourners gathered at a wake for a mother and her four children, who died in a murder-suicide that drew the attention of authorities after their Staten Island home was set ablaze.
Five white caskets filled the Brooklyn funeral home on Tuesday. Only one was open -- that of a 2-year-old boy.
In one was 32-year-old Leisa Jones. Police say she slit the throats of her three children and sat with them and her toddler in their burning home until she died of smoke inhalation nearly two weeks ago. All five died.
The services at Brooklyn Funeral Home and Cremation Service attracted mostly family members, but also some teachers from P.S. 44.
A funeral service was planned for Thursday in Washington, D.C., where they will be interred at Glenwood Cemetery.
