Voter Registration In New Jersey Up Slightly

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -- Slightly more New Jerseyans are registered to vote with the Nov. 2 election less than two weeks away.

The state Elections Division says more than 5.27 million residents have registered. That's up from 5.22 million in 2009 when residents elected Republican Chris Christie as governor.

The 1.75 million registered Democrats are lower than the 1.77 million who were on the voter rolls in 2009. The number of registered Republicans is up 10,000 at 1.07 million.

Nearly half the voters, 2.44 million, are unaffiliated. That's down from 2.51 million in 2009.

Voters will elect members of the House of Representatives along with county and local lawmakers.
