"He did make reference that he wasn't coming back. So we believe he may do himself harm," Ramapo Police Det. Lt. Mark Emma told Diamond. "Harriman State Park was a place he frequented during nicer weather but we felt maybe he went back there for, maybe to do himself harm."
The last cell signal from Sontag's phone was traced to the Stony Point area, which includes Harriman State Park.
said they're searching for his car, a black Kia Optima with the license plate FZD-8413.
"Just a great, great person and we're all exhausting our efforts every single day, day and night out looking for him," said family member Steve Teitlebaum. "I can't think of any enemies, I can't think of anybody that has anything against him or wrong with him. He has many, many friends."
Anyone with information on Sontag's whereabouts is asked to contact Ramapo police at 845-357-2400.
