Volunteers Bring Therapy Dogs To Newtown To Help Grieving Residents
NEWTOWN, Conn. (CBSNewYork) - Volunteers on four legs are in Newtown, Conn. to help those who are grieving cope with the huge loss suffered.
Nora Hayes of western Massachusetts is with the group Therapy Dog International and said she decided to bring her Golden Retriever named Blue after hearing about Friday's shooting rampage.

"The kids, it's non-verbal with them. They want to hug them and talk to them; it makes them feel better," Hayes told WCBS 880's Ginny Kosola.
Hayes said she has volunteered after a crisis in the past.
"When we went down after 9/11. I didn't know if it would be appropriate to do this, but they bring a tremendous comfort. There's something solid and reassuring about the dogs."

Hayes first brought Blue to the Christmas tree in Newtown but said for now, volunteers are taking the dogs wherever people are gathered.
