Vincent Hayward Sentenced For Multiple Sexual Assaults In NYC

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) - Vincent Hayward, 23, was sentenced to what adds up to more than several life sentences for what Judge Ronald Zweibel called "the vicious, violent" sexual assaults of five women.

The victims ranged in age from 23 to 69, spoke of being devastated by fear and being afraid of their own shadows as a result of the crimes.

The first victim told the judge that the brutal attack made her look at black men in a different way, and it's not fair, she said.

"Racism disgusts me. It's not who I am," she said.  Speaking directly to the defendant, the victim said "Not all black men are you. No other black men are you."

With that, the shackled defendant jumped to his feet. Court officer had to grab him and they hustled him out of the courtroom.

Hayward didn't even get to hear the Manhattan judge sentence him to a total of 428 years behind bars.
