View Of Manhattan Obscured For Lincoln Tunnel Commuters
WEEHAWKEN, N.J. (CBSNewYork) - Commuters who enjoy the unique panoramic view of Manhattan from the Lincoln Tunnel helix are losing what many considered to be the best part of the drive.
A luxury apartment building rising from the Weehawken waterfront is blocking that beautiful panorama, and commuter Mary Harris of Emerson is annoyed.
"Looks terrible. It just disrupts the whole thing. I mean, there was nothing there for such a long time why put anything there now? Should've left it alone," she told WCBS 880's Marla Diamond.

As Diamond reported, the Newark Star-Ledger compared the construction project to putting a moustache on the Mona Lisa.
After a prolonged court battle, developer Hartz Mountain began construction on the luxury complex.
The building blocking the view is 90 feet tall and Weehawken Mayor Richard Turner said it won't get any higher.
"Some view is lost. The vast majority of the view is preserved," Turner told Diamond.
Other commuters lamented the loss of the unique view.
"I noticed it and I said ah, it's taking my view away when I go home - even though it's a fleeting 15 seconds," one man told Diamond.
The tallest building in the luxury complex is up.
"I think when the whole thing is done, people will realize that probably 80 percent of the view, if not more, is preserved," Turner told Diamond.
