Vietnam War Veterans Honored In New York City
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A group of New York City veterans received a special thank you Saturday.
The United War Veterans Council held a special ceremony at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Plaza in lower Manhattan, CBS 2 reported.
The service marked the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War.
It included a wreath laying ceremony as well as a 21-gun salute in honor of those killed.
"Now all of these veterans have come together to finally receive the acknowledgement they all deserve," said Pat Gualtieri, of the United War Veterans Council.
"It's a very special day. Memories, I'm thinking about my buddies who are not here, who should be here enjoying this," said Vietnam War veteran Laurence Lynch.
More than 1,700 people from New York died in the Vietnam War.
