Video Shows Man Being Rescued From Underneath Subway Train

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A man was run over by a subway train Saturday and survived with only minor injuries.

The aftermath of the terrifying incident at Union Square in Manhattan was caught on video. The footage shows an MTA worker checking on the man, who was trapped underneath the subway car on an R Train.

Witnesses said they realized something was wrong when they heard people screaming. As the train approached, the unidentified man rolled into the trench between the tracks.

"He kind of jumped down almost like a reverse push-up, and he turned his head and saw that he was OK and the subway car kind of rolls right over him," a witness said.

Power was turned off on the track while the man was rescued. It's not clear how he ended up on the tracks.

He was treated at Bellevue Hospital Center.
