VIDEO: NYPD Hunts Man Who Sucker Punched, Robbed Passenger At Times Square Subway Station
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The New York Police Department is asking for the public's help identifying a man who sucker punched and robbed a man at the Times Square subway station early Monday.
The incident took place took place just after midnight and was caught on tape.
The victim was standing on the mezzanine level inside the station when the suspect approached him and started talking to him. After spending about two seconds talking to his victim, the mugger looks over his shoulder. Then he winds up and slugs the victim in the face, as seen on video.
The victim, 35, fell to the ground, and suffered minor injuries, police said. The mugger grabbed his cell phone and ran onto the No. 1 train platform, police said.
The suspect is described as a black male, around 30, 6-foot-3, with dark skin and an Afro. He is seen in the video wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, and dark pants, which he pulls up at one point.
