US Airways Flight Makes Emergency Landing At Bradley International Airport
WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. (CBSNewYork) - A US Airways flight has safely landed back at Bradley International Airport shortly after takeoff on Monday after a fire was reported on the plane.
None of the 49 passengers were hurt in the incident.
According to airport officials, flight 3518 to Pittsburgh took off from the airport in Windsor Locks around 11:30 a.m. but was forced to turn back 15 to 20 minutes later. A fire was reported in the plane's auxiliary power unit.
The flight safely landed back at Bradley shortly after noon, according to officials.
Airport officials said there was no fire when the plane landed and it remains unclear if there actually was a fire.
The incident comes on the heels of two incidents with JetBlue flights over the weekend.
One Saturday and then again on Sunday, JetBlue flights departing John F. Kennedy International Airport were forced to turn back following bird strikes. No injuries were reported in either incident.
