1 Killed, 1 Critically Injured In Upper East Side High-Rise Fire
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A fire in an Upper East Side high-rise Friday night has left one person dead and another critically injured.
Firefighters responded to the luxury building on East 84th Street and First Avenue at around 9 p.m. Friday night.
Video shows flames and smoke pouring out of the windows of a unit on the 25th floor.
Firefighters were able to put the fire out in less than an hour, but a 76-year-old man inside the building could not be saved.
Investigators say he was found in a bedroom and died of severe burns. The victim has been identified as Joel Beeler.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
