Nearly 2 Dozen Birdhouses Mysteriously Appear In Upper East Side
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Birdhouses have been mysteriously appearing on the Upper East Side.
CBS2's Steve Langford reports nearly two dozen birdhouses have popped up on East 83rd Street, between York and East End Avenues, in recent weeks.
"I like it and it provides the birds a home," resident Bob Wagner told CBS2.
However, Ilana Kalanthroff believes the birdhouses are a nuisance.
"I think they're terrible because it creates a lot of noise in the morning and it could create a lot of garbage on the floor," she said.
No one knows, though, who put up the birdhouses. CBS2 spoke to "Woody," who didn't want to take credit for the mystery birdhouses.
"No, you can say a good Samaritan. Random acts of kindness are so nice," "Woody" said.
The birdhouses feature soothing messages and one even memorializes a late beloved local named Louise.
