Unnamed Yankees Player Says Team 'Spooked' By Boos In Bronx
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Blame it on the boos?
Alex Rodriguez, Robinson Cano, Curtis Granderson and Nick Swisher couldn't buy a hit throughout the playoffs, and fed-up Yankees fans certainly let them have it during Game 2 of the AL championship series.
According to one anonymous player, the unhappy home vibes may have contributed to New York being swept out of contention for title No. 28 by the Detroit Tigers.
"A lot of guys were talking about it in the clubhouse," an unnamed Yankee told the New York Daily News. "I was surprised by how much it bothered them. I really don't think they ever recovered."

After Game 2, Swisher openly griped about insults hurled his way from Yankees fans. He showed his sensitivity on the field, giving the Bleacher Creatures just a wave instead of his customary salute during roll call.
But the outfielder "was far from alone in his reaction," the Daily News reported.
"I really think the booing spooked a lot of guys," said the anonymous Bomber.
Some would say the Bronx cheer was deserved. Others would disagree. CBSSports.com columnist Gregg Doyel called Yankees fans "unforgiving jerks" for the persistent jeering.
"A lot of guys hadn't been booed before, and they couldn't believe how nasty it got in the stands," the player said.
