United Water Customers In Bergen County Advised To Boil Water After Main Break
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A 30-inch water main break that caused plenty of trouble in Bergen County on Wednesday has been repaired.
The break occurred on Hollywood Avenue and Route 9W in Englewood Cliffs.
Crews are in the process of filling and pressurizing the transmission main and company officials expect that the main will be fully pressurized Thursday afternoon.
The boil water advisory remains in effect until further notice for customers in the following communities:
• Englewood Cliffs-All residents
• Englewood—Residents east of Grand Avenue /Engle Street
• Tenafly—Residents east of Engle Street
Customers in the these towns will have to boil their water for one minute for the following: drinking, cooking or baking, making ice cubes, taking medication, brushing teeth, washing food, mixing baby formula or food, mixing juices or drinks, feeding pets and all other consumption. Water does not have to be boiled for showering, washing dishes or clothes, according to United Water.
United Water is advising residents of Englewood, Englewood Cliffs, Fort Lee, Leonia, Palisades Park, and Tenafly to continue to use water for essential purposes only until they are notified that normal water pressure has been restored.
