Upper East Side Store Robbed At Knifepoint, Police Say

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police were searching Tuesday for a suspect in the knifepoint robbery of a convenience store on the Upper East Side.

Police responded at 9:19 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, to a convenience store at 230 E. 80th St. The male suspect walked into the store and took out a knife as he demanded cash and cigarettes from a 32-year-old male employee, police said.

The suspect took off with $350 and a lone pack of cigarettes, police said.

The male suspect was described as white and wearing a black hooded sweat shirt. He was later seen wearing a black baseball hat, a dark-colored jacket and a white T-shirt, police said.

Police released surveillance video of the man with the knife in the first incident.

Police also released photos of the man in a store nearby at 245 E. 80th St., along with a woman who police said is also being sought. The woman appears counting money across from a clerk at a cash register in one of the photos.

Police did not specify what the female suspect was suspected of doing, or whether the store at 245 E. 80th St. was also robbed.

Anyone with information was asked to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS, log onto the Crime Stoppers website, or text tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and enter TIP577.
