UConn Center Andre Drummond To Follow Jeremy Lamb, Reportedly Enter NBA Draft
NEW YORK (WFAN) - It's been a brutal month for the University of Connecticut basketball program.
And it appears that it's only getting worse.
After a disappointing season capped by a first-round exit in the NCAA tournament, it was announced that UConn is ineligible for next season's NCAA Tournament. Sophomore Jeremy Lamb declared for the NBA Draft on Tuesday, and now freshman center Andre Drummond is doing the same, according to CBSSports.com
The 6-foot-11, 275-pound Drummond, a native of Mount Vernon, New York, is projected to be a Top 5 pick in the upcoming draft. Some have projected him to go as high as No. 2.
The 18-year-old prospect, who played just one year with the Huskies as a freshman, had a very inconsistent campaign this past season. Still, he did show great promise at times, and managed to average 10 points and 7.6 rebounds in his lone season in Storrs.
