Tyson Recalls Panko Chicken Nuggets Sold At Costco
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- More than 130,000 pounds of chicken nuggets are being recalled because they may contain plastic.
The fully cooked panko chicken nuggets are made by Tyson and were sold in five-pound bags at Costco stores nationwide since July 2016.
The company issued the recall after some customers reported finding small pieces of hard, white plastic in the nuggets. The material may have come from a rod used to connect a transfer belt at one of Tyson's plants, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
"Tyson Foods has inspected all lines at the production facility to ensure product quality standards are being met and has implemented corrective measures at all of its facilities to prevent similar occurrences," the company said in a statement.
The recall affects 132,520 pounds of product with the UPC code 0-237000-3558-5, Item number 23575-928 and "best if used by" dates of July 18, 2017 with case codes 2006SDL03 or 2006SDL33.
No injuries were reported.
Customers should throw away the products or return the items to where they were purchased.
