The tractor-trailers are filled with diapers, clothes, food and any other supplies New Orleans residents thought could be useful in the clean up and relief effort.
"It was amazing to see how many people responded to our cry for help down there to send up here," Louisiana resident Trey Ledbetter told WCBS 880's Sophia Hall.
Ledbetter and Joseph Arabe said their little idea to help out became a massive effort when the donations kept coming in from New Orleans residents.
"Two trucks, two 53-foot van trailers. I don't know if you walked inside, but I mean it's a lot of goods. Kids toys, water, blankets. Anything that people in the south want to donate that we thought you all could use. Jackets, stuff like that, we brought it up here," Arabe told Hall.
Those in need can go to Amityville High School, where the supplies have been unloaded.
"I've just seen it firsthand, I've been there and seen towns devastated. I know what this did when we saw little gestures like this down there for the people and we just wanted to lend a hand. We're all in this together. It's times like this when we should work together," Arabe told Hall.
