Two Suspects Face Attempted Murder Charges In Shootout With Off-Duty Cop
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Two men face attempted murder charges after a shootout with an off-duty police officer at an auto repair shop in Brooklyn's Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood.
Investigators said Officer Anthony Pressley, a 10-year veteran of the Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority, was inside the shop at 74 Albany Ave. at 8:23 p.m. Saturday night waiting for his car to be fixed.
That's when a group of armed men walked in.
Police said when the robbers realized Pressley had a gun, they began beating him.
Pressley drew his weapon and exchanged shots with the robbers, wounding two of the suspects. They were arrested.
Pressley was hit in the shoulder. EMS responded and transported him to Kings County Hospital where he is in stable condition.
Police said 18-year-old Reashawn Jackson and 21-year-old Kenneth Baxter, both of Brooklyn, were arrested Sunday on charges including attempted murder and robbery. It was not immediately clear if they had lawyers.
Two other suspects were still on the loose Monday.
