Tunnel To Towers Run To Cause Tube Closures At Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel Late Saturday Through Sunday
NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- The Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel will be affected by closures from 11 p.m. on Saturday until 3 p.m. on Sunday.
The closures will be a result of the Stephen Siller Tunnel To Towers Run. Some 25,000 participants are expected to participate, the race kicks off on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. on the Gowanus approach to the tunnel and ends at the World Trade Center.
The run retraces firefighter Stephen Siller's run to the World Trade Center on September 11 and honors those who died that day.
The east-bound tube of the tunnel will be closed to all traffic starting at 11 p.m. on Saturday night until 3 p.m. on Sunday.
The Brooklyn-bound tube will be operating with two-way traffic from 11 p.m. on Saturday until 8 a.m. on Sunday, the entire tube will be closed on Sunday from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Siller Foundation.
