Tuesday Marks 4th Anniversary Of 'Miracle On The Hudson'
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Tuesday marks the fourth anniversary of the "Miracle on the Hudson" -- the successful emergency landing in 2009 of U.S. Airways Flight 1549 on the waters of the Hudson River.
Captain "Sully" Sullenberger ditched the plane in the Hudson River shortly after taking off from LaGuardia Airport en route to Charlotte.

The plane struck a flock of Canadian geese, crippling its engines. Once it hit the water, passengers and crew got out of the cabin as fast as they could, and nearby boats rushed to their aid.
Everyone aboard the plane survived.
Sullenberger said the splashdown inspired those involved to make changes. He has fought for better flight safety and improved working conditions for pilots.
The plane is now on display at the Carolinas Aviation Museum in North Carolina.
