Troubled Peninsula Hospital Center May Shut Its Doors For Good
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Peninsula Hospital Center in Queens is close to shutting down after 104 years, potentially leaving hundreds without jobs.
In a court filing Monday, the troubled hospital's bankruptcy trustee said she's focusing on the best way to wind down the operations of the 173-bed facility in the Rockaways.
The hospital has been in bankruptcy for six months.
The state closed down Peninsula's clinical lab last month due to "problems that failed to meet the accepted standards of care."
A nursing home affiliated with the hospital will continue to operate.
