Tri-State Pummeled By Quarter-Sized Hail
NEW YORK (CBS 2 / WCBS 880) -- On Monday night it was the hail that was the story in places like Kearny, N.J., where people were holding pieces of it. Parts of Manhattan saw the hail, and so did Park Slope as captured by home video.

"All of that's hail right in front of the apartment. It took about 10 minutes for it to be completely flooded," one resident told CBS 2's Sean Hennessey.
Speaking of flooding, there was the view In Long Island City, where the rain was torrential, drenching everything in sight.
"It was a lot of water but I knew I would survive it all," one resident said.
Plenty of lightning as well that provided a light show nearly everywhere you looked, including the Empire State Building off in the distance. It was a similar story in Manhattan, where the rain came and went in a flash.
"It came down in a deluge and it was really lightning. My thoughts were I hope I don't get hit by lightning," Upper East Side resident Michelle Cooper said.
The heavy rain made for a tough go on the roads. Hennessey spoke to one cabbie.
"I was scared about the car. It was slippery or something," he said.
