Snow, Sleet And Rain Cause Slick Roads, Delays Across Tri-State Area
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Snow, sleet and rain caused headaches for commuters Wednesday, and prompted various school closings and delays.
A winter weather advisory was in effect for parts of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut until 4 p.m. Wednesday

In Westchester, closed school districts include Bedford, Katonah-Lewisboro, North Salem, Peekskill, Somers and Yorktown.
During the morning commute, I-287 across Westchester and Rockland counties was snow-covered as many cars, hazard lights on, were seen fishtailing and swerving, WCBS 880's Sean Adams reported.
Metro-North railroad urged caution while getting off and on trains and while waiting on platforms that could be slippery.
A Little Refresher in Winter Driving
In New Jersey, the National Weather Service is calling for as much as 6 inches of snow in higher elevations before it changes to freezing rain.
"It's a pain in the rear end," Bergen County resident Kenny Haybor told Adams. "Heavy ice, packed snow and a lot of crud."
Many schools in northwest Jersey opened later than usual because of the winter weather.
Not Much Snow, But It Was Heavy
NJ TRANSIT cross-honored tickets system wide today on buses, rail and light rail.
In Connecticut, the National Weather Service expected the storm to dump up to four inches of snow on inland areas.
Schools were closed in Hartford, New Haven and Waterbury, while Bridgeport schools had 90 minute delays.
