Tri-State Area Braces For Blast Of Wintry Weather
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A blast of wintry weather could make a mess of the morning commute Tuesday in parts of the Tri-State Area.
A wintry mix of rain and snow is expected to move into the region during the early morning hours, making some roads slippery and slushy. Drivers are urged to slow down and use caution.

"We're really not expecting any significant accumulation on city streets or at the coast," AccuWeather meteorologist Dr. Joe Sobel said. "North and west of Interstate 287 there could be one to three inches of snow."
The city's Department of Sanitation said its workers are loading salt spreaders in preparation for the wintry storm.
In an attempt to minimize delays, ensure service reliability, and give customers additional travel options NJ TRANSIT will be offering system wide cross-honoring on Tuesday.
Customers will be able to use their tickets or passes on buses, trains and light rail.
"We wanted to give our customers as many different options possible to keep them on the move during the expected winter weather," spokesman John Durso said. "We want to make the experience as seamless as possible to keep our customers on the move."
NJ TRANSIT continues to recover from Superstorm Sandy, but Durso said the system is operating at 95 percent capacity and will be ready for the upcoming storm.
"We've performed maintenance on our snow blowers, we have more than 16,000 bags of snow-melting supplies, we've been out testing our rail switches, our heating system," Durso said. "We're prepared and ready to transport our customers safely and securely."
