Victim In Bronx Robbery, Stabbing Speaks Out As Police Search For Suspects
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are looking for two suspects who they say were seen on surveillance video robbing and stabbing a man in the Bronx.
It happened around 11:30 a.m. back on Sunday, March 18 on Echo Place in the Tremont section.
Rafael Fuentes said he walking right in front of his home when the two men grabbed him and pushed him to the ground from behind before stabbing him.
"I got slashed. They cut my eye, they cut my hand, my chin," he told CBS2's Marc Liverman.
That's when police said the men started going through his pockets. Fuentes said one of the things he heard was, "where's the money or your life."
"So you know, take the money. Give me my life," he said. "I was scared."
Police said the suspects grabbed $60 and took off. They were last seen fleeing into Echo Park. Fuentes was taken to the hospital with lacerations to his face and right hand and was treated and released.
"I don't wish this to no one, but when that happened to a person, that's when you're going to know that your life could be at a point of leaving you. But thank God, I'm alive," Fuentes said.
Fuentes said he's not going to let the attack stop him from living his life.
"I don't walk with fear, so I gotta face life," he said.
Echo Place is funded by the city health department and has 24/7 front desk security. Residents were offered mental health support after the attack.
Police said one of the suspects was wearing a black hooded jacket, black track pants with a white stripe down the side and red sneakers.
The second suspect was wearing a black jacket, black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and black sneakers.
