NEW YORK (WCBS 880) - The increased military along Amtrak routes has mixed reactions among commuters at New York Penn Station.

Regular Amtrak rider Neil Canavan of Brooklyn took notice.
"Military with heavy weapons, heavy automatic weapons," Canavan told WCBS 880 reporter Marla Diamond.
The show of force, also involving the NYPD, comes on the heels of the European terror threat.
New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly says this exercise was long-planned, but necessary.
"40 percent of the attacks in the last 20 years have been against transit facilities," said Kelly.
The military, the NYPD, bomb sniffing dogs, it made some commuters feel nervous, but not Laurie Espan of Newark.
"If anything, it makes me feel safe," said Espan.
