Tracy Morgan says health scare at Knicks game was caused by food poisoning
Tracy Morgan had a health scare and was seen getting sick during the Knicks-Heat game Monday at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Play was paused for more than 10 minutes while Morgan, a longtime Knicks fan, was removed from his seat and the area was cleaned. Witnesses said it was a medical emergency and he appeared to be throwing up and bleeding from his nose.
Morgan shared an update on social media Tuesday morning, saying his doctors say it was food poisoning. He posted a photo that appeared to show him in a hospital bed, smiling and giving a thumbs up.
"Thank you for all your concern! I'm doing ok now and doctors say it was food poisoning," the post read. "Appreciate my MSG family for taking such good care of me and I need to shout out the crew that had to clean that up. Appreciate you!"
A spokesperson for Madison Square Garden said the organization hopes Morgan feels better soon and they look forward to seeing him back courtside.
"The Knicks are now 1-0 when I throw up on the court so maybe I'll have to break it out again in the playoffs," Morgan joked in his social media post.
The Knicks went on to a 116-95 victory, sending the Heat to their first eight-game losing streak of coach Erik Spoelstra's career. Mikal Bridges scored 28 points, and Josh Hart tied a franchise record with his eighth triple-double this season.
"First and foremost, obviously we hope everything is good with Tracy Morgan," Hart said after the win. "Avid, lifetime Knick fan so prayers go out to him and his health and safety."
The 56-year-old actor and comedian was prominently featured during the recent "Saturday Night Live" 50th anniversary events, at both the "SNL50: The Homecoming Concert" and the live "SNL50: The Anniversary Celebration" special. He also has a forthcoming comedy pilot on NBC, in which he plays a disgraced former football player looking to remake his image, opposite Daniel Radcliffe.
Next up, the Knicks visit San Antonio on Wednesday and Charlotte on Thursday before returning home Saturday.
