Tracking Ida: Tornado Watch In Effect Throughout Tri-State Area, Flash Flood Emergency Issued In NYC

TRENTON, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Tornado watches and flash flood warnings have been issued for parts of the Tri-State Area as remnants of Ida blow in with severe weather.

A tornado watch is in effect until 1 a.m. Thursday for New York City, Long Island and Westchester County.

Tornado warnings were issued earlier Wednesday in Manhattan, the Bronx, Suffolk and Westchester counties, but have since expired.

A tornado watch is also in effect until 1 a.m. for Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Passaic and Union counties in New Jersey.

The National Weather Service confirms a tornado touched down in the Burlington area.

Another tornado watch is in effect until 1 a.m. for Fairfield, Middlesex, New Haven and New London counties in Connecticut.

 

A flash flood warning has been issued for New York City and Westchester County until 3 a.m. Thursday, along with Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Passaic and Union counties in New Jersey.

Most of the area will remain under a flash flood watch until 2 p.m. Thursday.
