Tourist Who Lost Foot In Midtown Taxi Accident Now Back In U.K.
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Sian Green, the tourist who lost her foot when a cab jumped the curb and slammed into her in Midtown, has returned home to the U.K.
Green arrived back in the U.K. safely after spending five weeks recovering at Bellevue Hospital, according to a family spokesman. She left the U.S. two days after being discharged, and will continue to focus on her recovery, the spokesman said.
"Sian's condition continues to improve every day. Her extensive rehabilitation has helped her to walk with limited assistance of a walker, and she plans to obtain a prosthetic leg for full mobility in the coming months," the spokesman said in a statement.
Green, 23, was injured in an Aug. 20 accident, in which a cab jumped a curb on Sixth Ave near Radio City Music Hall and plowed into her.
She was rushed into surgery, but doctors couldn't save her left foot. Although there were injuries to her right leg, it was not severed, police said.
Himon served a 30-day suspension issued by the Taxi and Limousine Commission, which recently ended. Unbeknownst to the TLC, Himon had enough points on his licenses for suspension several months prior.
