Tourism Officials: Vote No On Plan To Charge For Wildwood Beach
WILDWOOD, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- One of the four free beaches in New Jersey is located in Wildwood, but a referendum up for a vote in March could change that.
As WCBS 880's Marla Diamond reported, tourism officials want residents to vote no.

"That is one of the main joys of the Wildwoods – to be able to come here and enjoy our beautiful, expansive beaches without beach fees," said Ben Rose of the Greater Wildwoods Tourism Authority.
Rose has urged residents to vote no on a March 5 referendum to impose beach fees.
Taxpayers cover part of the $2 million cost to maintain the beach. The rest comes from the authority.
"They would lose a tremendous amount of funding from the Wildwoods Authority toward beach replenishment and maintenance fees," Rose said.
Residents have twice rejected referenda for charging admission to the beach, in 1976 and 1981.
