Tolls On Garden State Parkway Could Go All-Electronic

According to a report in The Record, the New Jersey Turnpike Authority is considering making tolls on the Garden State Parkway all-electronic.
As part of the consideration process, they have been monitoring how things are going on roads across the country that have gone all-electronic.
The report said that if all-electronic tolling is implemented, tolls would all be collected by E-ZPass scanners or a license plate scanning system. Drivers without E-ZPass would get a bill in the mail.

If the all-electronic plan is put in place, the hundreds of Parkway toll collectors would lose their jobs on July 13, 2013, The Record reported.
There is no plan to eliminate cash toll collection on the New Jersey Turnpike. The Turnpike Authority said there is too much risk of losing revenue from out-of-state drivers who might just ignore the bills they get in the mail.
However, the Turnpike toll collectors could still be out of a job if a private company takes over toll collection on both roads and doesn't keep them on board.
